Your domain, your email

Put your business name on every message.

Create addresses such as hello@yourbusiness.mu, then connect them to webmail, your phone or your computer. TealHost web hosting includes email accounts, with setup help when you need it.

Create the mailboxes in cPanel

  1. Open your hosting control panel

Sign in to your TealHost account and open cPanel for the hosting service attached to your domain.

  2. Create an email account

Open Email Accounts, select Create, choose the domain and enter the mailbox name. Set a strong, unique password and an appropriate storage quota.

  3. Check the mailbox in webmail

Find the new account under Email Accounts and select Check Email. Confirm you can open the mailbox before configuring other devices.

Plan which addresses need a separate inbox and which should be aliases or forwarders. Email storage counts towards the hosting plan’s available space.

Connect your phone or computer

In cPanel → Email Accounts, choose Connect Devices beside the mailbox. Copy the secure manual settings shown there into your email app. Use the full email address as the username and the mailbox password.

Use account-specific settings
SettingWhat to use
Incoming mailThe secure IMAP hostname and port shown under Connect Devices.
Outgoing mailThe secure SMTP hostname and port shown for the same mailbox.
AuthenticationThe full email address and its mailbox password.
EncryptionThe SSL/TLS settings supplied for your account.

IMAP keeps mailbox folders synchronised across compatible devices. Avoid guessing a mail-server name from the domain; the correct hostname must also match the server’s certificate. Never disable certificate checks to get past a warning.

The cPanel mail-client instructions explain where to find these settings.

Point mail to the right provider

MX records tell other servers where to deliver your email. If DNS is hosted elsewhere, changing a record inside cPanel may not change the public DNS. Apply the required records at the provider that hosts the domain’s authoritative DNS.

If Microsoft 365, Google Workspace or another provider currently handles your mail, keep its records until you have agreed the migration. Changing nameservers can affect the website and other services as well as email.

Check SPF, DKIM and DMARC

  • SPF identifies the sending services authorised for your domain. Account for every service you use; do not create multiple SPF records.
  • DKIM adds a signature that receiving systems can verify. Use the record generated for the actual sending service.
  • DMARC tells recipients how to handle messages that fail the required authentication alignment. Review legitimate senders before enforcing a restrictive policy.

Use cPanel’s Email Deliverability screen and ask TealHost for help checking the public records. These settings support authentication; they do not guarantee every message will reach an inbox.

Test before you make the address public

  1. Send and receive

Send a message to an external mailbox you control, then reply to it. Check both delivery directions.

  2. Check authentication

Inspect the received message headers for SPF, DKIM and DMARC results. Ask support to investigate failures.

  3. Check each device

Confirm sent messages and folders sync on the phone or computer you will use. Keep the old mailbox until any agreed message migration is verified.

Moving existing email? Start with the migration checklist so old messages are included in the plan.

Common questions

Does buying a domain create my email address?

No. You also need email hosting and must create the mailbox. TealHost web hosting includes email accounts.

Can I use the same mailbox on several devices?

Yes. Compatible apps can connect using secure IMAP and SMTP. Use the settings shown for that mailbox in cPanel.

Will my old emails appear in the new mailbox?

Only if they are migrated or imported. Creating the same address on another server does not copy its existing messages.
